Tournament Division information:
2013 Menehunes Invitational Basketball Tournament kicks off its third year. We plan on hosting another fun and competitive tournament! Thank you for your support!
This year we plan on having 4 divisions:
1) "AA" Top Asian Division
2) "A+" Asian Division
3) "A" Friendship Division
4) "Wahine" Women Division "Monica Quan Championship tournament"
Division break down:
1) "AA" division consist of top Asian basketball players - Professional/College/High School experience players.
2) "A+" division consist of competitive Asian basketball players that play competitively .
3) "A" Friendship division consist of players that want to play in an organized tournament for a good cause. (Open ethnicity, but no top AA/A+ caliber players)
4) "Wahine" Women Division "MONICA QUAN CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT"

- Equal level to Tigers Tournament - AA or Las Vegas Invitational AA-Silver/AA-Gold or PTBA division 1 level.
- Asian decent ethnicity required (If a player is less than 25% Asian please verify with Menehunes tournament board)
2) "A+" division consist of competitive Asian basketball players that play competitively .
- Equivalent to A+ Tigers Tournament levels or A+ Sacramento Barons Tournament levels or PTBA division 1 or 2 level.
- Asian decent ethnicity required (If a player is less than 25% Asian please verify with Menehunes tournament board)
3) "A" Friendship division consist of players that want to play in an organized tournament for a good cause. (Open ethnicity, but no top AA/A+ caliber players)
- Equivalent to A division Tigers Tournament level or PTBA Division 2 or 3 level.
- Open ethnicity to A-Level players
4) "Wahine" Women Division "MONICA QUAN CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT"
- For all the women ballers out there, this division is for you!
- Lace up those KICKZ and come out and play for a good cause while getting a good workout.
- It will be an open division.

Tournament Rules:
- AA Division (ASIAN Decent), A+ Division (ASIAN Decent), and “A” Friendship level (Open ethnicity, but must be A caliber level players ONLY. “Waihine” Women Division (Open ethnicity) Menehunes committee has the right to not let a player play in the wrong division.
- All Players must sign the waver before playing
- (AA/A+ Division ONLY). All Players must part Asian. To be considered Asian you must be born and is native from these countries: China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Or if you played in (NAU, Tigers Tournament or LVI Tournament)
- (AA/A+ Division ONLY) Any protest of Asian Players, will be needed to be brought up to the Menehune Committee for proof of Asian Descent prior to tipoff. Bring birth certificates if you have a Mix-Asian that doesn’t look Asian and please scan and email it to [email protected] prior to the tournament.
- “Wahine” Womens Division is an open division for any ethnicity. We will use the same rules for the womens division as we do for the mens divisions. EXCEPT Shot clock will be 30 seconds upon request.
- NFHS Rules, CIF Officials will enforce them.
- All Captains must sign the teams waiver.
- AA Division: 4-10minute Semistop quarters(stop on free-throws), last 15 seconds stop time for the first 3 quarters, and last 2 minutes of the game for the 4th quarter will be full-stop time. (Clock does not stop on made baskets) 35 second shot-clock will be enforced.
- A+, A, Womens division: 2-20 minute halves. Running time and clock will stop on the last 15 seconds of the first half, and last 2 minutes of the games.
- Shot clock will be 35 seconds for men’s division (A+ and A friendship is upon request)
- Women’s Division is 30 seconds upon request.
- For every overtime will be additional 2 minutes, stop on free throws only and every whistle in the last minute. (does not stop on made baskets). NO SUDDEN DEATH.
- Double Technical foul or ejection of the game, player will not be able to play the remainder of the game and will be asked to leave the gym. Player can play the next game but if ejected again will be disqualified for the rest of the tournament.
- Any protest has to be done prior to the game to the Menehune Basketball Committee. Once the game starts then the game will take place.
- Championship games will be SEMI-STOP. Full stop time the last 15 seconds of the first 3 quarters, and the last 2 minutes of the game. (Stop on EVERY whistle) (Clock does not stop on made baskets)
- All fighting will lead to an automatic ejection of the game and tournament. (NO TOLERANCE POLICY, the officials should keep the game in control, so if there is a problem, please report it to the game officials)
- Grace period of 10 minutes for each team, and after that the opposing team will get a point for each minute that the opposing team will be waiting for. (Let’s not have a problem with this) For any reason you are running late please contact the tournament Manager.
- All protest must be made prior to the beginning of the game, once the ball is tossed the game must go on as is.
- Anyone under 18 years of age will need their parent to sign the waver form before they can play.
