Top 10 Southern California Asian Basketball Teams (2012)1. Ironmen (CAAAA 1st place), Ironmen lead by PG Garrett James. They have great shooters JJ James from the outside and active big men in the post. They will be the team to beat in the Tigers Tournament and is the #1 seed. OSO Coach Jesse James did a great job getting one of the biggest players in the Asian Basketball word. Having 7ft, 6-10, and 6-9 players as well as 6-5 shooters make them a well rounded team. Look out for this team to be the team to beat in the Asian Basketball world. 2. Bluecanvas (CAAA 2nd place) Bluecanvas somehow always find a way to win. They been a top 5 team in the country for the past 5 years. Lead by Justin Yun, Emil Kim, and Suk Ahn. Bluecanvas is the #3 seeded team in Tigers Tournament. Coach Tony Jew and John Han does a good job getting this team going no matter who they have out. 3. Alpine Striders (Barons Tournament Champions, 3rd place CAAA) Alpine has a legendary Coach Tony Wong, is lead with a very young and athletic team. They have the Young Twins(Justin and Jordan) who play at Chapman University and they have shooters like James out there. There heart and sole is Johnathon Chu. He is the leader and the captain for this team. 4. Taiwan Center (5th place Barons Tournament, 4th Place CAAA) Once the top team in Southern California been struggling a bit due to lack of players and injuries. But always had a program of talented players that come through the program. 5. Quicksilver (1st place NAU) Lead by Jarrod Carroll this team has 4-peat a very tough NAU league. Mark Nitake, Jun Uchida and Anthony Davis are all key contributors in this team success. 6. Menehunes AA Been out of action for a while because of President Jimmy Miyasaka being busy finishing up with Optometry School and is off to rotation for a year, while also just got knee surgery. Menehunes will be playing in A+ division this year. Look for a combined team for Menehunes/Taiwan Center for AA tournaments. 7. Tigers Blue (2nd place NAU) Who will they bring out? will the show with 12 solid players or just show up with 4 players and forfeit. They are a really talented team when they have everyone there. A strong Japanese program built up in Southern California. Coach Chester Tadakawa does a good job keeping loyal Tigers players to play. 8. Nakatanis (NAU) Struggled a bit during NAU due to injuries and people being busy during the season. Look out for them in LVI as they are the defending champions for AA-Gold. 9. Icemen A new team in this Asian Basketball world. Lead by Coach Vince Hamasaki, Icemen proved they can be a quality basketball team. They have an exciting game and can put up points quickly. They have couple of deadly 3 point shooters. Look out for this team, they just never give up! 10. Team ASAP Lead by Andrew Quan Team ASAP is a solid guard oriented team. They have 6-4inch Billy Ngyuen that can do practically everything out there on the court. They also have good shooters and quick guards. Look out for them to cause some damage this year in the tournaments. |
