Phoenix OverviewThe Asian Basketball Championships is excited to announce that our inaugural event will be held July 4-6, 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona. This tournament promises be the top annual destination travel tournament event available on the market.
All divisions are limited to 12-16 teams. Format will include a minimum of 2-3 pool play games depending on the number of teams per division. Random draw for pools will occur at the Captains Meeting on July 3, 2015. Following pool play, all teams will advance to either Championship (Gold) or Consolation (Silver) single elimination bracket play. The goal is to reach Championship Monday!

HotelThe ABCNA is excited to announce that the Phoenix Marriott Mesa will be our headquarter hotel for 2015. This freshly renovated property is centrally located, easily accessible from both the Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) or the Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport (AZA), and is just minutes away from the playing site for Saturday and Sunday (Inspire Courts). And then, it’s even closer to the Championship Monday playing site! This Mariott always offers complimentary self parking, and we have negotiated in wi-fi internet, drink specials, extended pool hours, and some other little perks that you will certainly find helpful throughout the weekend. The venue also has plenty of social opportunities: people watching in the lobby, meeting up at the bar, hanging out by the pool with the ballers & babes, or at the sports bar across the parking lot. There are also tons of places to grab a bite just a short drive away. Don’t forget about our 4th of July grand fireworks display, as over half of our rooms will have primetime pyrotechnics show views, and we will also be able to utilize some other specially arranged spots for the evening. All of our board meetings, player checkins, team registrations, coaches/captains meetings, tourney updates, etc. will be held at the Phoenix Marriott Mesa, so this is definitely the place to be for tournament weekend!

Housing Policy: Reminder that all teams are required to reserve a minimum of 3 rooms for 3 nights at the tournament hotel as part of our contract. All reservations must be made through our hyperlink, or through our group block. Hotel reservations made through other websites (Expedia, Priceline, Marriott, etc) will not count towards your team’s room count. The ABCNA has instituted the housing policy in order to obtain great rates at quality hotel(s), and it also helps us to stay within our budget in other areas. Sponsorship agreements based on room block guarantees help keep our entry fees manageable, get us the meeting space we need, and allow us to bring in a few extra dollars that we can put towards other things throughout the weekend (welcome party/awards ceremony/giveaways). In the end, the goal of the policy is to keep everyone’s overall costs down, while providing a greater tournament atmosphere throughout the weekend. Plus, we have obtained one of the best group rates ever for an upscale full-service Marriott property! Last date to make reservations is June 7, 2015. After that date, we cannot guarantee that rooms and rates will be available. First room night is billed to your credit card immediately, and remainder is charged 60 days prior to check-in. Special Note: In the additional requests box: 1) Indicate which team you are from so that we can keep track of lodging deposits. 2) Indicate your room preference from among these 3 selections: 2 Doubles, 1 King, or 1 King plus rollaway cot. The Premier division is for the best of the best. Teams will be approved based on their performance at various events over the past three years. This is the showcase division in the ABCNA. (Parallels the AA Platinum/Gold divisions on the West Coast, the Upper Men’s Elite on the East Coast) - Men’s Select : $450 Entry Fee + $200 Lodging Deposit + $100 Team Deposit
For those teams who seek a little more comp than the Open division, and want to face some of the best Asian teams from across North America, the ABC Select is the division for you. (AA Silver/Bronze, Lower Mens Elite/ Upper Men’s Open on the East Coast) - Men’s Open/Open-Rec : $450 Entry Fee + $200 Lodging Deposit + $100 Team Deposit
Just like it says- Open to any Asian teams who wish to participate. This is anticipated to be the largest division of the tournament and should have a tremendous amount of great play. If there are enough Recreational Level teams (8 minimum), we will open up another division. (A/B/C divisions on the West Coast, Lower Open division and Friendship level divisions on the East Coast) - Men’s 35 & Over : $450 Entry Fee + $200 Lodging Deposit + $100 Team Deposit

Must not reach the age of 19 before July 3, 2015. For those ABCNA players getting ready to take the next step, this showcase division will be full of competitive teams from across the continent. We are also be exploring a college recruitment component to the event, so stay tuned for those updates.
