Game 3: Menehunes Defeat LA Dragons 54 to 47 in the championship game. The Menehunes came into this game thinking that in order for them to win the championship the Scalabrine Express/Icemen would have to beat the Bruins by 16 points in order to win the tie break because there as a 3 teams with the same records of 2-1. Menehunes would also have to take care of there game against a highly talent LA Dragon team. Menehunes once again slowed the game down due to everyone being fatigue from another PTBA game earlier in the game but it was going back and forth in the first half. Midway in the second half the Menehunes made 5 consecutive 3 point shots, which pushed the lead out to 8 points. The Menehues closed out the game with a victory, but looked at the Scalabrine Express/Icemen score over the Bruins, which was 71 to 60.
The Menehunes were notified that the way the tie breaker works in this tournament was who allowed there opponents to score the least on there winning games. Which come to think about it, it was the Menehunes who kept there opponents at a low scoring margin.
The Menehunes couldn't of have won the Jets Championships if it weren't for the Scalabrine Express/Icemen who had defeated the Bruins to have caused the 3 way tie. SO BIG THANKS TO ICEMEN/SCALABRINE EXPRESS for helping the Menehunes win the championship!! Thank you Coach Susan and Vince Hamasaki!
It definitely was a TEAM effort this weekend as everyone played an important role to help us succeed.
Game 2: Menehunes Defeat Scalabrine Express/Icemen
This game started off neck to neck as there were multiple lead changes throughout the game. Talk about a low scoring game, it was was 43 to 42 until Jimmy Miyasaka broke away for a layup with just seconds left to take the final lead 45 to 42.
Game 1: Bruins defeat Menehunes 65 to 50.
Menehunes started out the game with just 4 players (Jarrod, Jimmy, Ryan, and Alex) as the other 4 guys were stuck in traffic in the same care (Micheal, Ace, Justin, and Steven). They battled back but could not cut the deficit to less than 8 points. Menehunes just came out really flat and was forcing the issue. They just looked out of sync and Bruins took advantage of all of the mistakes. Menehunes were 0-1 at the start of pool play.
